How they are made

First of all, understand that it’s possible to make patterns in marble aggregate for two reasons :

• Quartz and marble aggregates are available in a wide range of colors.
• The resin that binds the aggregates is perfectly transparent and sets the materials.

Knowing that laying a floor in marble aggregate requires the installation of angle irons to delimit the various zones, it’s easy to understand how to create terrace designs integrated with this material.

Using a stencil, angle irons are installed to create a frame that holds each different aggregate. Each cell is then filled with a mixture of resin and aggregate of the desired color.

All that’s left to do is smooth the entire surface, then lay the rest of the covering. The pattern is then embedded directly into the surface of the terrace, driveway or pool deck.

Pro tip : the colors of a marble aggregate surface will remain more visible over time, if the binder is an aliphatic polyurethane resin. The latter is perfectly UV-resistant and remains transparent. Epoxy resin, on the other hand, can become opaque or yellow over time. It can be maintained, but it often ends up rather grayish or yellow due to natural elements and especially the action of the sun’s rays (VISIBLE LIGHT, UV, X, GAMMA, INFRAREDS, MICRO-WORDS etc.) For a long-lasting aesthetic, prefer an aliphatic polyurethane resin binder and a protective resin of the same type.
