What is storage ?

Storage is the intelligent warehousing of goods so that a specific product or products can be found easily. Storage is governed by rules designed to :

• Keep goods in good condition
• Optimise space
• Ensure employee safety

Good warehousing means that the quantity of goods available for sale is known at all times.
Storage is a mechanism for smoothing out variations in production and guaranteeing a regular flow in the event of irregular supply. To preserve the quality of materials, it is crucial that storage is carried out under optimum conditions, whatever the stage of production.

In recent years, there have been significant advances in aggregate production techniques. It is now possible to produce quality materials and control them rigorously. However, it has been observed that the quality of carefully produced materials can sometimes deteriorate during handling and storage.
The most common causes of deterioration are :

• Pollution
• Granular variations
• Segregation
• Variations in water content

Fortunately, this deterioration can be reduced or even avoided by taking the necessary precautions.
Aggregates can be stored in two different ways:

• Outside storage
• Inside storage

Outside storage

We do not store aggregates outdoors. Our aggregates are intended for professionals who lay RESIMARMO flooring for end customers. They therefore need quality materials that are sorted, washed and dried. We therefore take great care when storing our products and we make it a point of honour to store them indoors under good protection.

Inside storage

These aggregates are designed to be mixed with resin and must be free of dirt, moisture and dust. This is why they are packaged in 25 kg sacks or pallets of 40 sacks and stored indoors, sheltered from the elements.

Aggregate control procedures are in fact quite complex, due to the very nature of production, with each operation having its own specific characteristics. There is therefore no standard quality control scheme, and these will have to be adapted to each quarry according to the characteristics of the deposit and the installation.

Despite these difficulties, it is possible to identify the essential principles on which the quality control of aggregates is based; we are thus led to distinguish two types of control:

1. Checks carried out by the operator

These may consist of summary checks on the quality of the deposit, the operation of the equipment and the quality of the aggregate leaving each machine.

On the other hand, they can be much more thorough. In this case, they require detailed knowledge of the deposit and the installations.

2. Checks carried out by the project manager

Check the quality of the materials manufactured and delivered by the operator. If the operator has limited his checks to summary verifications and routine adjustments, the project manager must have the necessary checks carried out by a laboratory of his choice to ensure that the supplies comply with the specifications requested. In all cases, unless otherwise stipulated in the C.C.T.P., conformity checks are carried out at the production site, which avoids in particular transporting aggregates likely to be rejected to the storage areas.

From the Italian warehouses, the goods are delivered directly to the customer.
