What are ISO certifications ?
After implementing a norm, many organisations consciously choose to seek certification.
More than one million companies worldwide are ISO certified.
By obtaining these ISO certifications, companies demonstrate their commitment to providing their customers with the highest quality products and services.
ISO certifications are international standards that help businesses improve efficiency, productivity, and profitability. They represent globally recognized standards for quality, safety, and the environment.
ISO standards are important for companies because they help ensure the quality of products and services, reduce costs, improve customer satisfaction, and strengthen business credibility.
ISO certifications are also essential because they enable companies to comply with regulations and laws in force in their country. ISO-compliant companies can also benefit from a stronger brand image and greater recognition in the marketplace.
Most importantly, ISO certifications help companies reduce risks and improve the safety of both employees and customers.
Audit and certification bodies provide their services to organizations wishing to achieve this. They can then issue an ISO 9001 certificate of conformity.
The 9000 series currently comprises three standards:
- ISO 9000 (2015)
- ISO 9001 (2015)
- ISO 9004 (2009)
Only ISO 9001 can be used as the basis for an audit or other certification. The other two standards cannot be used for these purposes. Audit and certification companies offer services to organizations wishing to do so. They can then issue a certificate of conformity to ISO 9001.
ISO 9001 is an internationally recognized quality management standard. It helps organizations improve performance, meet customer expectations and demonstrate their commitment to quality. The requirements of this standard define how to establish, implement, maintain and continuously improve a quality management system (QMS). Implementing ISO 9001 means that the company has established effective processes and trained its staff to consistently deliver quality products or services.
ISO certifications offers a number of advantages. It enhances a company’s credibility and image as an internationally recognized standard. It also enhances customer satisfaction by planning and striving to meet their requirements. In addition, it enables better process integration, evidence-based decision-making, a corporate culture focused on continuous improvement, and risk reduction. ISO 9001-certified companies have also seen cost and efficiency savings. Audit and certification companies offer their services to companies that so wish. They can then issue a certificate of conformity to ISO certifications.
ISO certification offers six advantages
1. Increased chances of winning tenders
Governments and large organisations often require ISO certification in their tender conditions. Thanks to ISO certification, we often have a competitive edge over our competitors. The most sought-after certification is ISO 9001 ‘Quality Management Systems’.
2. More efficient and smarter work
A management system allows us to optimise our structures, processes and responsibilities. It also helps us to combat waste and standardise our procedures.
3. Positive reputation
A good image must be earned. We achieve this by gaining the trust of our stakeholders. International recognition of ISO management standards helps us to do this. In this way, we demonstrate that we value health and safety at work.
4. Continuous improvements
After implementing the ISO certifications, an external auditor will point out potential improvements to our policy, objectives, processes, risk management, etc. The periodic assessments that follow help us stay on track: we update our objectives and identify new opportunities and risks more quickly.
5. Pursuit of a common goal
Certification transforms our organisation at all levels. The structure and processes ensure that everyone (from employees to management) acts and thinks in the same direction. Management standards also require us to constantly reflect on your leadership style or how to strengthen employee engagement.
6. Increased customer satisfaction
Customers have expectations of our organisation, our services and our products. With a certified management system, we can meet those expectations perfectly. The ISO 9001 standard improves the quality of your processes. The result ? Increased customer satisfaction. These are all important factors for today’s consumers and business partners.
